In 1896, when train travel was a core element of American life, the B&O Railroad opened its new "uptown" station in the Mount Royal neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. It was designed in Romanesque style with elements of Renaissance Revival by architects E. Francis Baldwin and Josias Pennington. Passengers and visitors could warm themselves during the winter months in front of the station's two huge fireplaces and pass the time in one of the rocking chairs placed on its concourse.
This reproduction of the original Mount Royal Rocking Chair is licensed by the B&O Railroad Museum and handmade in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Made of solid white oak wood from sustainably managed forests with an upholstered seat in black or burgundy.
